Details

Heading from Nebraska into Iowa with the howling winds kicking up dust.
We stair stepped our way up to MN/IA border chasing tornado warnings, but our cell was consumed by a developing squall line before we had a visual on the base. A gnarly tornado warned gust front came into view, but we couldn't make out anything beneath a lowering that was indeed very low.
Bumping into Melanie Metz.
We retargeted a cell to the south in Iowa that was discrete. A nice block wall cloud started to form that was quite photogenic in the evening light. The storm was caught behind the gust front of the line, which would mitigate its chances of spinning up a tornado, but we were content with the structure show.

The hotel we picked was a converted mill or factory on the river, making for some trippy aesthetics.

Conclusion

No tornadoes for this run, but we at least got some classic supercell structure in pretty evening light on this chase. It was a fun, well rounded chase too.
